Fall 2018 One Room Challenge Week 2

I must say, week 2 of the One Room Challenge came and went veeeeery quickly! Can we all agree this six week window is flying by? But here we are. I decided to join the Challenge at the very last minute so I didn’t have any plans, ideas or prep work prepared going into this. I spent a good chunk of week two continuing to finalize details and source products to use in the room. Luckily, for my timeline and sanity, this bedroom is in an apartment so we are not doing any major renovating. It is all cosmetic changes.

I have been working closely with the young lady whos bedroom this is to get the look and details just right. Her budget is very tight so I need to make sure I’m stretching every penny as far as I can. And what do we do when we are working on a tight budget? We take a trip to IKEA!

I would call it a successful trip. We got new bedding including sheets, a duvet and down alternative comforter. I love, Love, LOVE IKEA comforters and pillows. Highly recommend! You can not go wrong for the price.

This was also an exciting week because our mattress arrived. It was actually the first thing to be delivered for the room. There is something about a mattress coming out of a box that makes people excited. Like there is some magical wizardry involved in getting it inside there. I did a lot of research before choosing a mattress company and I finally found Crave Mattress. They are eco friendly, woman owned and made in the USA.

The foam used by Crave is bio-based, meaning they have replaced 30% of the petroleum with a soy-based ingredient. The foam is certified by CertiPUR-US. It is low VOC. Free of formaldehyde and ozone depleters, flame retardants with PBDE's, TDCPP and TCEP, mercury, lead and other heavy metals.

I will share more about the mattress in a later post. I am patiently waiting to get the bedroom set up so I can take the mattress for a spin (read nap).

Now the moment we have been waiting for. Lo and behold, I present to you the mood board for the One Room Challenge Bedroom!

I am still on the hunt for the perfect lamps, decorative pillows and a large rug to pull it all together. I know, I know, I am working backwards. I am toying with the plan for the artwork. Deciding between hanging the decorative screen panels shown on the board or hanging some framed art. I’d love to hear your thoughts on that in the comments.

That’s all for Week 2. Follow along on Instagram and get on our e-mail list. You will get a reminder when new One Room Challenge posts go live on the blog.
